Orders for [Field Marshal George] Wade to march towards the [Jacobite] rebels or join [General] Sir John Ligonier; questions about Hessian [troops], and Earl of Derby, Earl of Cholmondley, and others; 'regiments intended for the west are countermanded', and bridges and roads from Cumberland, Westmoreland, Lancashire, to Cheshire to be rendered impassable; Cheshire milita call-out; measure obliging 'Popish' [Roman Catholic] priests to leave London; directions for generals in Scotland [Roger] Handasyde, [William] Blakeney, Campbell, and the Earl of Loudon; arming of people in lowland Scotland; gathering of evidence against rebels in Edinburgh by Lord Justice Clerk; Admiral [John] Byng to patrol off France at Dunkirk, Brest, Fessol, in the Irish Channel, and off Cheshire and Lancashire coasts; Bill of Attainder; Examination of Mr Lockhart, Hickson [John Hickson of Perth, Perthshire?], and trial of Spanish captain [Francis?] Stafford.
