Folio 52. Petition for mercy of Richard Morison [Morrison], a barber and periwig-maker of Edinburgh, now a prisoner in Carlisle Castle [Cumberland] convicted of High Treason. Argued that he never bore arms for the rebels, but only followed his profession among [Jacobite] customers in order to support his 'wife and a numerous family of young children', first in Holyrood House, and then in the field with the rebel army.
