Folio 41. Petition of James Ancrum [Ancram], of Cuffabout near Borrowstouness [Midlothian], a [Jacobite] prisoner under sentence of death at Carlisle [Cumberland]. Says George Irwin's claim he saw Ancrum at the rebel camp in Duddingston [Midlothian] was a case of mistaken identity. And he says he was forced by the rebels into seeking horses from Patrick Cowie and James Montrieth, servants to James Cochran, at the park of Kinneil [Midlothian], mentioning a witness, William Hunter.
