Folios 83-84. John Sharpe to Andrew Stone or Thomas Ramsden regarding a trial, scheduled the following day, of two [Jacobites, Alexander Kinloch and Charles Kinloch] who intend defending themselves by stating that they surrendered in accordance with the Duke [of Cumberland's] Proclamation. Requests 'authentic copies' of the document, and seeks guidance as to whether it is intended to adhere to it, as was done in Carlisle [Cumberland], or to disregard it as not being a 'strict legal pardon'. Also seeks assistance from Mr Waite. Dated at St Margaret's Hill [Southwark, Surrey].
