Folios 36-37. D [Dudley] Ryder, Attorney General to Andrew Stone, with a copy for the Lord Advocate of Scotland [William Grant], setting out the people who should be examined further regarding the transmission of the Pretender's [James Frances Edward Stuart's] letter to the Provost at New Kirk: Captain Robt [Robert] Taylour [Taylor], under sentence of death at Carlisle [Cumberland]; Charles Frazer, clerk to Messrs Cockburn and Hope, merchants, Edinb [Edinburgh]; Wm [William] Polson, vintner; and Deacon Onuch [Much?]. Four others should be examined regarding the coach used to open the gates for the rebels [Jacobites]: Carnegie, a vintner; Wm [William] Henderson, servant to George Lindsay, disputes clerk; John Hyslop, and Captain?Dalzeel. He also suggests examining the people who were sent to trial with the Pretender to help determine the role the Provost had in the matter, and mentions a memorial of Charles Leslie.
