The petition for mercy of Robert Forbes, under sentence of death for high treason at Carlisle [Cumberland], citing the commissions held by his elder brothers in the King's army, claiming he was 'seduced by the evil council and example of some people of distinction among the rebels' at the age of 17, highlighting his disengagement with the rebels before their retreat from Stirling [Stirlingshire], and mentioning his guilty plea.
