Folios 89. Petition for clemency of Thomas Watson, [a Jacobite prisoner in the New Gaol, Southwark, Surrey] under sentence of death for high treason. Enclosures:
Folio 90. Watson's petition stating that he was originally forced into the rebellion, but being in 'indigent circumstances' could not bring witnesses to speak on his behalf.
Folio 91. Declaration of Thomas Watson, a tobacconist from Aberbrothick [Arbroath, Angus], stating that, when he was under the command of Major Glasgow, he was sent with a group of rebels to plunder the house of Lord Findlater.
Folio 92. Summary of evidence against Thomas Watson, given by John Bruce, Andrew Johnson, and a boy named Henry Cheap, mentioning Holyrood House [Edinburgh] and Perth [Perthshire]. A postscript states that Watson was lame.
Folio 93-94. Affidavit of a king's messenger William Duthie, given before James Scott of Logie [Pert, Angus] and Archibald Scott of Rossie [Island, Angus] Justices of the Peace, swearing that he served subpoenas against merchants David Wallace and John Gardner, ordering them to appear for Watson at court [in St Margeret's Hill] Southwark, Surrey. Counter-signed by James Kyd and David Kyd, and by a notary John Allan. Dated 29 November 1746 at Montrose [Angus].
