Description

Folio 97. Memorial of Hen [Henry] Kerr, under sentence of death in New Gaol, Southwark, [Surrey], claiming to be a captain in the Spanish service and, as a prisoner-of-war, requesting respite of his sentence. Says that the Spanish ambassador to The Hague [Netherlands] Don Pedro de la Mare has contacted his British counterpart there [Robert] Trevor concerning the case. Mentions service in the regiments of Limerick and Irlanda [Ireland], the Countadoria Principla of Valencia, the Countadoria Principal of Saragosa, and Don Luras de Espaniola director general of Foot. Filed with:

Folio 98. Kerr's petition, as above.

Folio 99. Extract of letter from Trevor to the Earl of Harrington, with enclosed letter [not filed here], mentioning a similar letter 'Mr Van Hoey [Dutch diplomat Abraham Van hoey?] has lately transmitted from the French Court to the Duke of Newcastle upon a like subject'. Dated at The Hague.
