Folios 91-92. Examination of William Smith, servant to [John] Murray [of Broughton], and before that to Murray's wife's mother, Mrs Ferguson, of Edinburgh. He attended Mrs Murray throughout the [Jacobite] military campaign, recalling an occasion, during the Siege of Stirling Castle [Stirlingshire], when a 'lusty', 'pretty tall' gentleman left his horse at St Trinians [Stirlingshire] and visited the quarters of 'the Pretender's son' [Charles Edward Stuart] at Bannockburn [Stirlingshire]. Sir Thomas Sheridan, Sullivan, Murray, Sir John McDonald, and Mr Hay, a writer from Edinburgh, also quartered there. Denied knowing Sir John Dougless [Douglas]. Discharged from [?Charles Stewart of] Ardshiels' House. [Held in the messenger?] Lamb's custody.
