Folios 69-70.?S [Stephen Charles Triboudet?] Demainbray to John Gerard, watchmaker, Litchfield Street, Newport Market, Leicester Fields, London [Leicester Square, London, Middlesex]. Demainbray has heard nothing from Gerard and this is causing great anxiety and distress, 'you cannot conceive how many black chimeras I frame from your cruel silence'. Demainbray advises Gerrard that he will shortly be sending 'another Faste' [?Taste] [?luxury] to Mrs Gerard when the next convoy leaves for London. Demainbray hesitates to mention it in case the French 'once more make a prize of it'. This letter was initially sent enclosed in a 'Frank' to Mr [Jean Baptiste?] Froment who, Demainbray explains, will then deliver it to Mr Gerard. Dated at Edinburgh.
