Folio 9-11. Petition for mercy from John Farquharson [of Aldlerg], a farmer [from Ellick], Kirkmichael, Strathaven, near Banff, Banffshire, [and a prisoner in New Gaol, Southwark, Surrey] attainted for High Treason, who claimed he was coerced by [John] McGordon of Glenbucket into joining the [Jacobite] rebellion. Cites the evidence of neighbouring tenants Angus Stuart [Stewart] and Samuel Grant, and also John McHardy and John Forbes, who were to be present as witnesses at his trial and where heard of en route, with Robert Catanach, in Edinburgh and Newcastle [upon Tyne, Northumberland]. Folio 12. Additional petition from Farquharson, imploring the Duke of Newcastle to intercede on his behalf for the sake of his wife and six young children.

Folios 13-14. Copy of three documents, marked 'No 1'. Firstly; examination of Angus Stuart of Facdran of Achreachan parish, Kirkmichael, aged over 60, describing how Glenbucket and 'a party of Glengarry Macdonalds' forced all 16-60 year-olds into service with the rebels under pain of death, and the abduction of cattle. Secondly; examination of Alexander Grant, of Kirkmichael, Strathaven, aged over 60, confirming Stuart's examination, and also describing Farquharson's failed attempt to bribe Glenbucket. Both examinations held before Alexander Anderson, John Leslie, Thomas Grant, and James Leslie, on an application from Robert Farquharson. Dated 7 October 1746 at Bogghead of Ardendilly. Thirdly; verification of the signatures of Alexander Anderson, of Newtown, and Thomas Grant of Achonanie, by Samuel Grant, of Berwick street, St James, Westminster [London, Middlesex]. Dated 6 November 1746 at St Margaret's Hill, Southwark, Surrey.

Folios 15-16. Copy of documents, marked 'No 2'. Affidavit of Thomas Forbes, of Castle Street, St Martin-in-the-Field, [London] Middlesex, describing how he travelled to Scotland to find witnesses for Farquharson and others, and how the messenger James Lindsay subpoenaed McHardy, Forbes, Stuart, and Alexander Grant. Has copy of the subpoena, and Lindsay's endorsement, which is also signed by Hugh McKay. Dated 28 October 1746 at St Margaret's Hill, Southwark, Surrey.

Folios 17-18. Copy of document marked 'No 3'. Deposition of John Farquharson, describing his instructions to Forbes to subpoena witnesses. Dated 6 November 1746 at St Margaret's Hill, Southwark, [Surrey].

Folios 19-20. Letter marked 'A' from John McHardy to Farquharson, advising that he, John Forbes, and Robert Cattanack, had reached Leith [Midlothian], en route to London. Dated 29 September [1746] at Edinburron [Edinburgh?].

Folio 21. Letter marked 'B', from Anna Farquharson to her husband [John Farquharson], advising of the despatch to London of witnesses able to travel, and the existence of more should they be required. Conveys Donald and James Gordon's regards, and those of 'Uncle James'. Addressed to William Stuart, jeweller, at Mr Grant, glover, Duke's Court by St Martin's Lane, Westminster, London [Middlesex]. Letter dated 9 October 1746 at Elick. Page is endorsed with Stuart's affidavit, swearing that the letter to Farquharson enclosed depositions. Endorsement dated 13 November 1746.
