Folios 66-67. Report of the Attorney General D [Dudley] Ryder to the Duke of Newcastle recommending the prosecution, for treason, of Thomas Burton [Barton?] who was captured at Heskett [Cumberland] en route to Carlisle [Cumberland] with a message from Lord Elcho to the governor of Carlisle to open the gates of the city to the [Jacobite] army. Mentions a letter from Sir Edward Blacket [Blackett] with information from Timothy Hall, Joseph Hoggart and Edward Baptist, obtained in the county gaol at Morpeth [Northumberland]. Also mentions the examination of James Kirby describing his plans to agitate in favour of the rebels among General Wade's army.
