On 15 or 16 November, he met John Backhouse [?Joseph Backhouse], Mayor of Carlisle [Cumberland], and Aldermen James Graham and Richard Coultherd in Brampton [Cumberland]. He believes they had visited the Pretender [Charles Edward Stuart]. Sir David Murray and four rebels [Jacobites] escorted them back to Carlisle. Sworn before J Tullie and Edward Hitchinson. Dated at Cumberland. With copy of information of Elizabeth Waugh, concerning Mayor of Carlisle. Sworn before Tullie and Hutchinson. Dated at Cumberland.
