Folios 84-85. James Copley to Newcastle. Requests permission to visit his younger brother. He was in the French Army and was captured by Commodore Knowles, and is on parole in Canterbury [Kent]. Copley was born in Saint Germain [Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France] to English parents, and is a godson of King James II, but came to England in 1720 and converted to Protestantism. Dated at York [Yorkshire].
