Description

Folios 96 and 99. W Bell,?Nathaniel Hills, Charles Allix and T Cayley (Commissioners for the Sick and Wounded), to Thomas Ramsden. Prisoners from the Soliel, privateer of Dunkirk [France], will be sent to Newgate or Marshalsea prison. Dated at Office for Sick and Wounded Seamen. Enclosures:

1. Folio 97. List of prisoners from the Soliel on board the Caroline, 'Custom House Smack' off Greenwich [Kent]. Gives their names, places of origin, and regiments: William Fitzgerald; Lewis Shee; Alexander Baillie; Robert Cameron; James Chanlan; Patrick Fitzgerald; Charles McCarty; Thomas Nairn; Adam Urquhart; Samuel Cameron.

2. Folio 98. Extract of letter from Richard Osbaldeston, George Melthorpe, T Morcliffe, James Hustler, Henry Thompson and Charles Tancred (justices of Yorkshire), to Commissioners. York Castle gaol contains 227 rebel [Jacobite] prisoners; worried about outbreak of infection. Dated at York Castle, 23 January 1746.
