Folios 41-42. Mr Battine to Newcastle. Met two Deputy Lieutenants of Hampshire to discuss warning signals on south coast. One mentioned around 600 French and Spanish prisoners at Porchester Castle, with more expected from Dover [Kent]; only 60 soldiers stationed there to guard them. Secured arms and horses at houses of Catholics, with Sir Richard Mill and Mr Page (or Paye). Dated at East Marden [Sussex].
