Folios 23-24. Earl of Malton to [Newcastle]. Attended meeting of Lords Lieutenant to propose scheme for raising army recruits. Some officers selling their companies; Sir Rowland Winn's brother wishes to purchase one. Hopes Henry Ibbotson will be appointed High Sheriff of county. There are many prisoners in York Castle. Dated at Pomfret [Pontefract, Yorkshire]. With copy of advertisement, asking contributors to pay second subscriptions to support companies defending Yorkshire. Published at Pontefract [Yorkshire] on 30 December.
