Folios 126-127. E. Goodall to [Newcastle]. Man calling himself Samuel Powell, clerk to Mr Johnson of Clifford's Inn, accused Goodall of being a 'Popish priest'. The watch took Goodall to Saint Martin's Roundhouse and kept overnight; Justice Frasier discharged him next morning. Says Powell should be punished for accusing an innocent man hoping for a reward. Goodall born a Protestant, and has never been suspected of being Catholic. Once secretary to Mr Colman in Florence [Italy]. Currently established in Sir Robert's ministry; wrote in the Gazetteer and pamphlets. Dated at 'Lodgings at the Golden Spectacles in St Martin's Court' [London].
