Folios 111-113. Draft. Newcastle to Sir George Oxenden. Concerning measures to oppose any landing on Kent coast. General Sinclair sent to survey coast. General Armstrong suggests Barham Downs [Kent] as location for camp. Lords of the Admiralty received account of 150 boats and small vessels in Boulogne harbour [France]. Doubts militia will be useful; believes regiments and companies raised by voluntary subscription are better. Office of Ordnance can supply arms. Suspects Pevensy Bay [Sussex] is intended French landing point. No decision yet made about Lord Lieutenant vacancy. Dated at Whitehall [Middlesex].
