Folios 100-101. Draft. Newcastle to Dr Stern at York [Yorkshire]. Confirms receipt of letter [see SP 36/77/1/45], regarding shots fired at a sentinel of the city guard; Mr Selby suspected, Lord Mayor placed him under guard. Examinations relating to incident referred to Attorney General [Sir Dudley Ryder], who reports no grounds for detaining Mr Selby. Also confirms receipt of letter from Justices of the Peace [see SP 36/77/1/129], containing Mr Nesbitt's information about Dr Burton's 'treasonable words'. Burton currently imprisoned in York Castle for high treason, for going with the rebels [Jacobites] in Lancashire. Dated at York.
