Folio 145-146. Paul Jullion to [Newcastle]. William Piery of Glasgow, released from prison in Ghent [Belgium], has information about Irish and Scotch brigades embarking in France, to support [Jacobite] rebellion; Mr Corbert from Admiralty Office did not believe him. Jullion former 'Plate Keeper' for Count de Montijo when he was ambassador; Mr Shaw, Irish Jesuit priest, was countess's confessor and 'Emissary' for Spanish Court. Suspicious of Mr Hamilton, 'Romish Priest' who worked for Mr Dubuissy, late French envoy, and now works for Venetian Ambassador. Jullion not Catholic; parents born in Sedan [France], but fled to Holland to escape persecution. Father was in guard corps of William, Anne, and George I. Jullion's Goldsmith business suffering; unable to support his mother and daughter. Requests employment; can read and write French. Dated at London.
