Folios 136-137. Further examination of James Dowdell. Heard of a ball, held by Pretender's Son [Charles Edward Stuart] in Edinburgh, from Sir William Keith. Never corresponded with Pretender's supporters, and never translated letters from abroad for them. Did not drink Pretender's health; may have made 'an Innuendo upon drinking of a Health' to get information from suspected Jacobite. Papers he took to Brett's pamphlet shop, near St Clement's Church, related to trial of Admiral Matthews; making copies for Mr Millan at Charing Cross [London]. Has not 'exercised the function of a Romish Priest' since arriving in England in 1728. Taken before Thomas Waite. Dated at Westminster [Middlesex].
