Folios 107-109. Copy. Memorial of Deputy Lieutenants of Argyllshire to Major General John Campbell. Duke of Argyll raising militia. Detachment of Earl of Loudoun's regiment (led by Lieutenant Colonel Campbell) routed party of rebels [Jacobites] (led by McGregor of Glengyle); secured their arms and took several prisoners. Militia ordered to Inveraray [Argylshire] to collect arms and ammunition; expecting 2,600 men. Detachment of 600 men ordered to join government forces at Stirling [Stirlingshire]. Account of 'Deplorable Situation of the Shire': lost cattle over past year; poor crops in last two seasons; lack of trade and business; tenants cannot afford to pay rents to landlords. Militia in 1715 were paid, and government refunded costs. Dated at Inveraray.
