Folios 81-82. Draft. Newcastle to Mayor of Portsmouth [Hampshire]. Received letter dated 12 December from Mayor and Magistrates of Portsmouth [see SP 36/76/3/105]. Hopes they remain vigilant and preserve public peace. Has no particular directions regarding Roman Catholics in Portsmouth, but their behaviour should be watched. If any are in correspondence with 'Enemies abroad' they should be secured. Dated at Whitehall [Middlesex].
