Description

Folios 182-183. Everard Fawkener to Marshal Wade [copy]. Formerly enclosed in a letter from duke of Cumberland to duke of Newcastle, dated at Lancaster, 17 December 1745 [SP 36/77/1/175]. Duke of Cumberland is today advancing on Lancaster with his horse. General Oglethorpe has orders to advance beyond Lancaster. Brigadier Bligh will arrive at Preston from Wiggan [Wigan] today. Lord Sempill has been ordered to advance towards Preston. Duke of Cumberland may wait for reinforcements from Wade before engaging the rebels [Jacobites]. With details of the troops intended as reinforcements for Wade's army. Dated at Preston.
