Folio 161. Intelligence about the rebels [Jacobites] from Orton. A party of the rebels [Jacobites] has been pursued by the inhabitants of Penrith, while the main body is marching from Kendal, planning to lodge tonight at Orton, Shap and [Burrow] Bridge before marching for Scotland. Men from Appleby[-in-Westmorland], including Mr Carleton, sheriff, and the mayor, have pursued duke of Perth, Lord Kilmarnock, Lord Pitsligo and others, causing them to retreat to Kendal, and have taken prisoners. Dated at Orton.
