Folios 91-92. Dudley Bradstreet to duke of Newcastle. Advising that forts be built on the road from Newcastle to Carlisle before an army is encamped between Edinburgh and the Highlands. He suggests writing to the highlanders who did not rebel promising them the property of the rebels [Jacobites], and if necessary sending parties from the army to aid them. The rebels' [Jacobites'] numbers will fall if they are kept in their barren country. The people were distressed by the rebels' [Jacobites'] progress but have welcomed the king's armies. He professes his loyalty and requests a chance to serve the king. He requests that duke of Newcastle ask Mr Stone about a letter he sent to him.
