Folios 88-89. Duke of Cumberland to duke of Newcastle. Duke of Cumberland's cavalry reached the rebel's [Jacobites'] rear guard just beyond Lowther hall. He attacked the rebels [Jacobites] in possession of Clifton and drove them out. Four of his officers were wounded and around forty men killed or wounded in the skirmish. The rebels [Jacobites] are now around four miles off. He will halt tomorrow. Dated at Clifton.
