Folios 74-75. J Page to [duke of Newcastle]. He has also sent a more public letter with this private one. The recent false alarm at Seaford put Chichester into a state of great consternation. After this was over, he and others discussed the possible searching of the houses of Roman Catholics in Chichester and Arundel rapes, upon which matter he has written to duke of Newcastle for directions. There is danger of conflict between the provincial and city troops. Dated at Watergate house near Midhurst.
