Folio 61. [Sir] [Dudley] Ryder, attorney general, to duke of Newcastle. Enclosing papers relating to Thomas William Selby, under guard at York, and Edward Graves, confined at Newark. It is alleged that a gun was fired at a guard from Mr Selby's house, but Ryder does not think the evidence supports this. Mr Graves is accused of corresponding with the rebels [Jacobites] in a traitorous manner. Ryder, however, thinks Mr Graves only acted out of curiosity. There are insufficient grounds to detain either man. Enclosing the papers regarding these cases sent to him by duke of Newcastle [not enclosed].
