Folios 58-59. Will Monkhouse to [?unknown]. Mr Burn of Orton says General Oglethorpe was in his house and that Orton is full of the king's troops. Justice Carleton of Appleby[-in-Westmorland] has been ordered by some of the king's forces to summon the country to appear in arms at Brougham. The king's army has taken the rebels' [Jacobites'] rear guard at Shap. On Tuesday morning the rebels [Jacobites] had not arrived at Penrith. Dated at Brough.
