Folios 74-75. Sir John Ligonier to [Duke of Newcastle]. He has ordered General Anstruther to march from Coventry [Warwickshire] tomorrow. Gives expected dates of arrival of troops in London. The state of the roads makes the use of wagons difficult. He has forwarded Duke of Newcastle's letter to [Duke of Cumberland], who was expected at Wigan last night. If Cumberland overtakes the rebels [Jacobites] the [Jacobite] rebellion will be finished. The rebels are reported to be in disorder and discarding their arms. He hopes Admiral Vernon will succeed against the expected invasion. His army requires shoes. He thanks Newcastle for his enquires about his health; he hopes to leave for London once the troops are in full march. [The Earl of] Albemarle sends his respects in a postscript. Dated at Lichfield [Staffordshire].
