Folios 39-43. John Raper, Lord Mayor of York, to Duke of Newcastle, 11 December 1745. The guards standing on watch at Micklegate Bar [York] were shot at. He has ordered guards to be placed at the house of Mr Thomas Selby. Dated at York. Enclosures:
1. Folios 40-41. Examinations of the incident sworn before the Mayor, including that of two soldiers who suggest the shot may have come from Thomas Selby's house. Dated 12 December 1745.
2. Folios 42-43. A printed advertisement offering a reward of £10 for information regarding the culprit or the place from which the shot was fired. With seal. Dated at York [Yorkshire] 12 December 1745.
