When the former Yugoslav states gained independence, activities in Macedonia were managed by a Director of the Eastern Adriatic, based in Serbia. An office was opened in Skopje in 1998. Prior to 1992, activities in Slovakia were managed by the British Council?s Representative for Yugoslavia.
