Administrative / biographical background

The British Overseas Trade Board Advisory Council was set up in 1975 to act as an advisory link between the BOTB and industry. The council consisted of the Secretary of State for Trade, members of the BOTB, Chairmen of BOTB Advisory Groups, representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, the Trade Union Congress, the National Economic Development Council, the Institute of Exports, the British Shippers' Council, the British Export Houses Association, the Committee on Invisible Exports, Export Clubs and individual industrialists.
