The Welsh Subject Panel was set up by the Curriculum Council for Wales to consider the ways that the requirements of the National Curriculum for the teaching of Welsh and through the medium of Welsh should be carried out. Although the Curriculum Council was wound up at the beginning of 1994, the Panel continued to meet under its successor, the Curriculum and Assessment Authority for Wales.
