The minutes of the first three meetings of the Telecommunications Board in 1980 were bound in the Post Office Board minute book (TCC 15/25). The minutes of the remaining meetings in 1980 were kept loose with the 1981 Telecommunications Board minutes.

Following establishment of the Corporation in 1969, there were two boards: the statutory Post Office Board and the Post Office Management Board (which had its first meeting on 6 July, 1970). Both oversaw all the Post Office's operations (ie posts, telecommunications and Girobank), but the Post Office Management Board was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Corporation while the Board took responsibility for strategic issues.
In 1980, in preparation for the departure of British Telecom from the Post Office, separate Boards were established for the Telecommunications and the Posts & Girobank businesses. These two new boards replaced the Management Board.
