Folios 70-71. John Sharpe to [unknown] concerning the Lords of Scotland who are required to take oaths in the court of Chancery in order for them to sign their proxies for the election of the sixteen peers for Scotland. Accordingly, Sharpe wrote to he duke of Leeds, the earl of Dunmore, the earl of Dartmore, the earl of Bute and Lord Sempill. The duke of Richmond has been excused, the earl of Dalhousie wrote to say that he was under age, lord Elibank was in Bristol for his health and sends his apologies and lord Forrester replied that he would be in Scotland himself so did not need to sign a proxy. The duke of Buccleuch, the earl of Sutherland, the earl of Abercorn, the earl of Haddington, the earl of Dysart, lord viscount Falkland, lord viscount Irvine have not replied. The earl of Strathmore, the earl of Northesk, the earl of Hyndford, lord Fairfax and lord Colvil are not in England. There is no information regarding lord Cranston. Sharpe refers to the enclosure of a certificate under the great seal [not filed here]. Dated at Lincoln's Inn.
