Folio 94. Letter from [George Ross] to Andrew Stone. Mr Skinner tasked by Board of Ordnance to build fort on site of Oliver Cromwell's old fort at Inverness [Inverness-shire]. Land property of town, work interrupted by local magistrates. When General Wade expanded previous Fort George at Inverness, houses and gardens totalling £500 taken without compensation. Promising compensation payments would allow work to proceed. Dated at Leicester Fields [London].
