Folios 72-73. Memorial of Court of Directors of the South Sea Company to Newcastle. Letter from Mr Keene, dated at Lisbon [Portugal] on 30 April, detailing contract between king of Spain and Don Joseph Ruiz de Noriega of the Commerce of Cadiz, to introduce 5000 'Negroes' [slaves] into New Granada and Peru. Currently in England to purchase slaves, which would strengthen Spanish position, reducing chance of peace agreement where Assiento could be re-established with South Sea Company.
