Folio 80. John Sharpe to Thomas Ramsden. Sharpe's agent, Mr Lowe of Chester [Cheshire], has informed him Kent is charged with attempting to persuade Isabel Campbell, otherwise McDuff, not to give evidence against rebels [Jacobites]. Not enough evidence means Kent would be acquitted, which would reflect badly on government due to his 'Gentleman's rank'. Suggests Carrington take Isabel Campbell to Chester to gather evidence.
