Description

Folio 56. Lieutenant Colonel John Arabin to [Duke of Newcastle], concerning the paroles of prisoners from Spanish service held in Berwick [Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland]. Leslie the pilot only remaining prisoner confined in Berwick; Bligh, the other pilot, is dead. Dated at Berwick. Enclosing:

Folio 57. Paroles of the Spanish Officers at Berwick. In French. Acknowledge that they are prisoners of war and were released on parole, therefore promise not to take arms against Great Britain until they are exchanged. Their names are: Jean McPherson; Francois St Clair; Guillaume Hay; Roger O'Farrell; Jean Gold; Morgan MacMahon; Benedict Antoine O'Heyne. Seals attached. Dated at Berwick [Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland] 9 April 1747.
