Affidavit of John Hutchins, St Margaret's, Westminster, [London, Middlesex], concerning his visit to the public house of William Basing [Baysing], in Horn Dean [Horndean], Hampshire, unsuccessfully seeking Mr Carte, a nonjuring clergyman. Discovered the house was 'frequented by [Jacobite] persons disaffected to His Majesty and his government, particularly that Sir Harry Henry] Goring had used often to come to the said house with one Carroll a Papist [Roman Catholic] who lived at Clanfield [Hampshire]'. Sworn before Ch [Charles] Delafaye. Two copies.
