Description

This series contains a small number of items relating to 19th century members of the Department. During this period staff numbers were small, and responsibilities were broad. Although a number of the staff had well-developed specialities, the department was not subdivided into sections. Henry Woodward, for example, although a specialist on fossil arthropods, published on many vertebrate and invertebrate groups.

Series held at The Natural History Museum are catalogued more fully in its online catalogue (reference DF PAL/120). Online descriptions of some individual records can also be viewed on Discovery, see DF 120.
