This series contains only a very fragmentary survival from the large number of subject files that must have been used by heads of the Department of Palaeontology over the years. They have been gathered together from various areas of the Department. Between them they relate both to the scientific and administrative work of the Department, and include files on accommodation, exhibitions, publications, wartime evacuation, expeditions and research projects. Among files of interest are those on F Oswald's expedition to Victoria Nyanza, Africa (1911-1914), proposals for new exhibitions (1928-1942) and the C T Trechmann bequest (1964-1966).
Series held at The Natural History Museum are catalogued more fully in its online catalogue (reference DF PAL/107). Online descriptions of some individual records can also be viewed on Discovery, see DF 107.
