Description (What the record is about)
-
This series contains monthly and annual reports of progress of the British Museum (Natural History) Department of Palaeontology.
This series contains some of the papers in which staff reported their progress to the Keeper, and the Keeper reported to the Director, for the use of the Standing Committee or Sub-Committee of Trustees.
The monthly reports (DF 104/1-33) give a detailed picture of the day-to-day workings of the Department, and were written for internal use only. The annual reports to the Sub-Committee (DF 104/55-70) give a summary of the situation of the Department, with an emphasis on staffing, accommodation and financial problems. The annual reports to the Trustees give an overall picture of the progress made by the Department over the year.
Series held at The Natural History Museum are catalogued more fully in its online catalogue (reference DF PAL/104). Online descriptions of some individual records can also be viewed on Discovery, see DF 104.
