This series consists of reports to trustees and other official documents of the British Museum (Natural History) Department of Palaeontology. It comprises letters, papers and reports on the whole range of departmental business, including the acquisition, loan and exchange of specimens, research, publication, staffing and finance.
The series includes communications between the Keeper and the Standing Committee of the Board of Trustees, conducted via the Principal Librarian until 1881, and via the Director in later years. Letters and reports coming in to the Department from the Trustees are held in DF 103/1-18 and DF 103/37-99; papers sent by the Keeper for consideration by the Trustees are held in DF 103/19-22.
Also included are a range of ancillary letters, memoranda, reports and circulars concerning the official business of the Museum in DF 103/20-36.
