Folio 75-76. Copy. Duke of Newcastle to the Archbishop of York [Thomas Herring], conveying to him the King's wish that he be appointed the next Archbishop of Canterbury. Recalls the King's satisfaction with the Archbishop's conduct during the [Jacobite] rebellion. Conveys to him the King's wish that the Bishop of Bangor [Matthew Hutton] should succeed him at York. Dated at Newcastle House [Middlesex, London].
