Reply [see folios 38-41] from Duke of Newcastle to the Bishop of Salisbury [Thomas Sherlock] on the latter's declining the Archbishopric of Canterbury, urging him to reflect further and accept the offer. Refers to a letter sent to the bishop from Newcastle's brother and speculates about the Archbishop of York [Thomas Herring] going to Canterbury, and being replaced at York by [Matthew ] Hutton, [Bishop of Bangor]. Dated at Kensington [Middlesex, London].
