Copy of a letter dated 12 February 1719 from the Customs at Portsmouth [Hampshire] Jno [John] Arnold and Hen [Henry] Baker, to the Commissioners, giving an account of a search of the 'Elizabeth' whose master Wm [William] Clarke is suspected of being bound on an illegal trade, mentioning the ship's former owner Mr Macphedris, a letter from Isaac Pattinson, and [Thomas] Walker who 'keeps an alehouse at ye sign of the Golden Lyon near King Edward's Stairs, Wapping' [London, Middlesex]. Dated at Customs House, Portsmouth.
